George Jackson, age 78 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 12:15 PM. He was born in Pineville, Kentucky on March 2, 1933 the son of Gillis Sr. and Rosezina (Simpson) Jackson. George was employed as a blast furnace operator at AK Steel for 41 years, retiring in 1994. He attended Blanchester Primitive Baptist Church and was a member of the NRA. On March 1, 1969 in Pineville, Kentucky he married Mary Campbell Birch.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Birch Jackson of Hamilton; ten children, Eddie (Sue) Fugate of Waynesville, Ohio, Carolyn (Darcy) Dennin of Middletown, Peggy Vanessa Bellamy of North Carolina, George Michael (Sheri) Jackson of Pineville, Kentucky, Harold A. Birch of Middletown, Donna Jo (Charles) Stidham of Hamilton, James Gillis (Melody) Jackson of Pineville, Kentucky, Rex Douglas Jackson of Hamilton, Julie Ann (Burton) Sturgill of Franklin County, Indiana, and Tammy Rose Winkler of Camden; three brothers, John Henry Jackson of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Earl Jackson, and Donald Wayne Jackson, both of Pineville, Kentucky; two sisters, Alene Osborne of Pineville, Kentucky and Marlene Partin of Ohio City, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Birch of Middletown; 26 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry D. Birch; three brothers, Eugene Jackson, Gillis Jackson Jr., and Clayburn James Jackson; and three grandchildren, Michelle Birch, Dawanna York, and Bre-Ann Marie Jackson.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 12:00 noon with Elder Rick Dorton of Rose Hill Primitive Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staffs of Atrium Medical Center in Middletown and to Hospice of Cincinnati in Hamilton.
