Gladys Mcvey

Gladys McVey, age 91 of Hamilton passed away at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 4:35 PM. She was born in Winchester, Kentucky on January 9, 1920 the daughter of John and Margaret Shafer. Gladys was employed as a dietary technician at Mercy Hospital of Hamilton and was a member of Amvets Post #2. On September 10, 1944 in Winchester, Kentucky she married Harry F. McVey, and he preceded her in death in 1980.

She is survived by two sons, Larry McVey of Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey and Marshall (Judy) McVey of Hamilton; two sisters, Thelma Newkirk of Hamilton and Ann Kindred of Richmond, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Holly McVey of Hamilton and Melissa (David) Rhodes of Pennington, New Jersey; three great-grandchildren, Haily, Molly, and Ryan; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ora Shafer; and two sisters, Ruth Newkirk and Nan Gambrel.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dale French of Eaton Road Church of God officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
