James "Jimmy" Rauen, age 53 of Oxford, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. He was born in Quebec, Canada on February 2, 1961 and grew up in Oxford, Ohio. He graduated from Talawanda High School in 1979. To his friends, he was known as the Mex. He worked different jobs; concrete laborer, drywall installer, and car mechanic. He was very skilled at repairing any type of equipment and was found daily repairing someone’s lawn mower. He was an avid sports fan and loved playing softball. He loved growing up on a farm and riding bikes in his youth and four-wheelers as he got older. He spent much of his free time gardening and canning his vegetables and is known for his salsa. He adored animals and especially his dog, Dusty.
He is survived by his parents, Robert W. and Martha Schnorbus Rauen; brother, Mark Joseph (Roberta) Rauen; sister, Beth Rauen(Bryan) Sasser; nephews, Mark, Eric, and Dana Rauen, Brendon and Bryce Sasser; and nieces, Jessica Rauen, Kristen Lee Henson, and Katherine Lee Trumley; as well as many other aunts, uncles, relatives, and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jennifer Rauen Lee.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Church, 111 East High Street, on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 10:30 AM with Fr. Jeff Silver, celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Reily Township Life Squad, 3330 Law Rd., Oxford OH 45056.
