Joyce Irene Simpson

Joyce Irene Simpson, age 62 of Wayne Township passed away in Jellico, Tennessee on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 3:30 PM. She was born in Gratis on October 30, 1944 the daughter of James M. and Virginia (Rieger) Lakes. Joyce was employed in agency accounts at Ohio Casualty for 36 years, retiring in 1999. She deeply loved the Lord and was a member of Hamilton West Baptist Church for 58 years, where she was very active in the church nursery, VBS, and numerous other ministries. Joyce also spent many hours volunteering in the Edgewood school district, where her grandsons attend. She was an avid gardener and loving grandmother who devoted her life to her grandchildren. On November 10, 1962 she married Charles Simpson.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Simpson of Wayne Township; a son, Timothy and his wife Kathy Simpson of Carlisle; a daughter, Sandra Paulson of Trenton;grandchildren, Josh and Eli Paulson, Jacob and Caleb Simpson, and Adam, Amber, and Austin Patrick, and many other "adopted" grandchildren; a brother, Lowell Lakes of Middletown; a sister, Janet and her husband David Hazelwood of Monroe; and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral service will be held at the Hamilton West Baptist Church, 1050 NW Washington Blvd., on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Rev. David Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
