Robert "Neil" Gabbard

Robert “Neil” Gabbard, age 79 of New Miami, passed away at Gateway Springs Health Campus on Saturday, August 7, 2021.  He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on June 15, 1942 the son of Elmer and Emma Jean (House) Gabbard.  On July 7, 1962 in Hamilton he married Mary Jane Bowling.  Neil was employed at Avon Products for twenty years, retiring in 1989.  He pastored for more than fifty years at Somerville Gospel Mission, New Miami Wesleyan Church, Miamisburg Wesleyan Church, Freedom Chapel, and Christ Church.  Neil was a faithful servant for the Lord for almost sixty years.  As Neil would say “no matter where you go, there you are”.

Neil is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Gabbard; three daughters, Darla (Doug) Brown, Julie (Jon) Stamper, and Debby (Brian Graves) Holmes; six grandchildren, Kristen (Scott) Ross, Chad (Jenn) McDaniel, Evan Stamper, Molly Stamper, Grant Holmes, and Collin Holmes; two siblings, Lois Balsinger and Judy Day; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Delores, Donnie, and Bill Gabbard.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio, on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 12:00 PM with Pastor Earl Baker of Christ Church officiating.  Burial will follow at Hickory Flat Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home. A special thank you to Ohio Valley Hospice for their care and to Gateway Springs Health Campus. The care was phenomenal and the beautiful send off will not be forgotten. The family would also like to thank them for the wonderful care of his beloved dog Fluffy.
