Abbie Emma Sawyer

Abbie Emma Sawyer, age 89 of Hamilton passed away in the home of her son in Inverness, Florida on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 12:30PM. She was born in Manchester, Kentucky on August 11, 1918, the daughter of Justice and Sallie (Rogers) Martin. Abbie was a member of the Timberhill Baptist Church and was employed in housekeeping for Miami University for fifteen years retiring in 1980. On October 7, 1937 in Manchester, Kentucky, she was married to Dewey Sawyer and he preceded her in death in 1982.

She is survived by four sons; Claude (Peggy) Sawyer and LeRoy (Jean) Sawyer both of Hamilton, Ronnie (Sharon) Sawyer of Elrod, Indiana and Robert (Linda) Sawyer of Inverness, Florida; five sisters, Bessie Frost and Mary Welsh both of Liberty, Indiana, Viola (Andrew) Transier of Cambridge City, Indiana, Lorena (Troy) Holliday of Inverness, Florida and Margie (Rev. Ralph) Morris of Brownsville, Indiana and also twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lewis and Saul Martin and one sister; Bertha Robinson. Funeral services will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Scott Miller and Rev. Ralph Morris officiating. Burial will be in Oxford Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 12 Noon to 2:00 PM.
