Adele Marie Fawns

October 6, 1953 — December 6, 2013

Adele Marie Fawns, age 60, was born in Hamilton on October 6, 1953 to John E. and Elaine A. Fawns, died December 6, 2013, at Hospice of Blue Ash, due to complications of diabetes. Adele was diagnosed with diabetes at age 5. She led a successful and courageous life. Having completed her undergraduate degrees in nursing and sociology at Miami University, she began her career as a Registered Nurse at Kettering Medical Center in Kettering, Ohio and later at Mercy Hospital in Hamilton and Fairfield. In 1985 she completed her Master’s in Education, College of Professional Studies at Xavier University before she continued her career in disease and case management at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, PacifiCare of Ohio and later as a High Risk Case Manager at United Health Care & OPTUM. She enjoyed travels throughout the United States and Europe. Her parents resided with her for 10 years before her mother passed away in 2003 and her father in 2007. She worked on several church and community functions such as the volunteer board of the American Diabetes Foundation, church festivals, food and clothing drives. Adele was preceded in death by her mother and father, a brother Gregory Fawns, her grandparents Henry George and Rosina E. (Zerr) Lubbers, James and Bertha (Breder) Fawns. Adele leaves behind a younger sibling Michael, nieces, nephews and supporting friends and others through work and church and her four legged friend Samantha.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, 382 Liberty Avenue, Hamilton, on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the church. Entombment will follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Shared Food Harvest in Butler County, Ohio, Attn: Tina Osso; The University of Cincinnati Foundation C/O Kidney-Pancreas Transplant Program; The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith."
