Agnes "Aggie" Johnson

Agnes "Aggie" Johnson, age 85 of Hamilton passed away at Woodland Country Manor on Thursday, March 17, 2011. She was born in Harlan County, Kentucky on September 27, 1925 the daughter of Luther and Lillian "Lilly" (Brymer) Gibson. Aggie retired from Champion Paper in 1987 after 21 years. She was a charter member of Hamilton Church of God and member of Faith Pentecostal Church. Aggie enjoyed building miniature dollhouses, winning numerous blue ribbons at the Butler County Fair. She was a very giving person, supporting various local charities. In Cincinnati in 1944, she married Louis S. Colegate, and he preceded her in death in 1964; in 1967 in Hamilton she married James E. Johnson, and he preceded her in death in 2003.

She is survived by a son, Louis "Louie" (Sheila) Colegate; a daughter, Barbara "Barb" (Jesse) Doyle Hendrick; a brother, Frank (Hazel) Gibson; and four grandchildren, Tiffany (Edward) Canfield, Thomas Hendrick, Stephen Colegate, and Zachary Colegate. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and siblings Johnie, Berl, Flara, Arnold, Mildred, Edward, Virginia, Luther Jr., Alonzo, Willa Mae, Clifford, Clifton, and Frank.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 1:30 PM with Pastor Rick Witt of Faith Pentecostal Church officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. Memorials may be directed to Haven House, the Alzheimer’s Association, or to Faith Pentecostal Church. Aggie’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to Jason Reynolds and Norma Madden for all their generosity and care, and to Thelma Setser for over 40 years of friendship.
