Alberta D. Cowgill

Alberta D. Cowgill, age 81, of Hamilton, passed away at Huntington Court on Thursday, March 25, 2010. She was born in Hamilton on October 29, 1928 the daughter of Albert Sr. and Ada (Moorehead) Rose. Alberta was a member of The Salvation Army. She worked as a nursing assistant at Mercy North and Ft. Hamilton Hospitals for a total of 27 years retiring in 1991. On February 27, 1947 in Middletown, she married Richard F. Cowgill who passed away on December 10, 1997.

She is survived by a son, Richard Cowgill Jr. of New Miami; four daughters, Dorothy (Raymond Sr.) Huffman, Darlene (Jim) Whitlock, Deborah (Jimmy) Ray, and Penny Cowgill all of Hamilton; 11 grandchildren, Tiffany, Baby Ray, Tonya, Sean, Renee, Beau, Michelle, Jessica, Richard III, Tara, and Kara; 11 great-grandchildren, Bradley, Joseph, Paige, Casey, Nicholas, Nicole, Jayden, Sierra, Robbie, Layla and Makayla; a great-great-grandchild, Haley Jean; Two brothers, Marion Rose of Hamilton and Brownie (Janet) Rose of Aurora, Indiana; and a sisters, Virginia (Henry) Smith of Fairfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband to whom she was married 50 years, 10 months, and 2 weeks; a daughter, Jennifer Cowgill who died in 1950; a grandson, Michael Cowgill whom she partially raise and took care of till his death on July 18, 2004; two sisters, Myrtle Kilby and Margaret Rose; and two brothers, Jimmy Rose and Albert Rose.

Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave. on Sunday March 28th at 4 PM with Rev. Michael Clark officiating. Following cremation Alberta’s ashes will be buried in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 PM. Alberta’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. William Krall, Dr. Ron Schneider, and the staffs of Huntington Court and Hospice of Cincinnati.
