Alena Stephenson

Alena Stephenson, age 86 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 12:45 AM. She was born in Jackson County, Kentucky on April 25, 1922 the daughter of William and Clara (Webb) Sparks. Alena was a member of the Pater Avenue Free Pentecostal Church of God. On July 3, 1980 she married Richard Stephenson.

She is survived by her husband Richard K. Stephenson of Hamilton; one son, Walker Lee (Irene) Winkler of Waynesville, Ohio; two daughters, Crystal (Ron) Soles and Barbara (Charles) Reece, both of Hamilton; step-daughter, Sherry Jewel of Hamilton; ten grandchildren, Walker Lee (Tammie) Winkler Jr. of Clarksville, Ohio, Jeffrey Dean (Debbie) Winkler of Waynesville, Ohio, Joshua Heath (Amanda) Winkler of Concord, North Carolina, Gary Lee Moore of Hamilton, Timothy Scott Soles of Hamilton, Tonya Renee Reece of Hamilton, Chuck (Ashley) Reece of Hamilton; Ricky Rhodes of Fairfield, Stacy Feltner of Cincinnati, and Krista Jewel of Hamilton; twelve great-grandchildren, Isabella, Makenna, Ashley, Jacob, Jeffrey Jr., Emily, Ashley, Charity, Faith, Sydney, Maddie, and Makenzie; one brother, Walker Sparks of Hamilton; and one sister, Christine (James) Day of Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her parents; former spouse and father of her children, Arthur Lee Winkler; a son, Timmy Winkler; and one sister, Irene Hammond.

Funeral Service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Willard Baker and Rev. Randy Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Crane, the nurses on the fifth floor of Fort Hamilton Hospital, and to the staff at Hospice of Hamilton for all their care and support.
