Alice Marie Bednar, age 94 of Hamilton, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Monday, February 22, 2021. Alice was born in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania on April 30, 1926 to the late William and Mildred (White) Hagan. Alice attended Miami University where she majored in English and literature. Her award-winning poem, “Beyond The Garden Wall” was published by many religious organizations. She was a member of the Bethel Christian Alliance Church. Alice worked as a telephone operator at Saks Fifth Avenue in Pittsburg. She volunteered as a tour guide for the Christmas at Glendower State Memorial Event with the Ohio Historical Society. She also enjoyed singing and playing piano for the residents at the Otterbein Retirement Center. Alice is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Lawrence Bednar; her beloved daughter, Donna Henry; her grand-daughter, Allyson Swanson; her great-grandsons, Noah and Zeller Swanson ; her brother, William (Jamie) Hagan; her niece, Heidi Hagan; her devoted caregivers, Debby Rotundo and Patrice Dickson, as well as many extended family members and close friends. Alice was preceded in death by her daughter, Roberta Ray; and her son-in-law, James Henry. Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave, Hamilton, Ohio, on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021 from 12:00 NOON to 1:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Hamilton.
