Alma Chesnut

Alma Chesnut, age 72 of Hamilton passed away at Huntington Court surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 10:15 PM. She was born in Hamilton on May 24, 1937 the daughter of Ernest and Mamie (Myers) Wallace.

She is survived by her husband, Ben Chesnut of Hamilton; four sons, Douglas (Connie) Stephens of Hamilton, John Proffitt of Michigan, Robin (Tammy) Evans of Christiansburg, Ohio, and Kevin (Heather) Chesnut of Hamilton; seven daughters, Donna (Bob Cross) Thomas of Louisville, Kentucky, Barb (Jeff) Rogers of Hamilton, Verna Stephens of Mississippi, Margaret (John) Orta of Defiance, Ohio, Geraldine (James) Dodson of Defiance, Ohio, Karen (James Lawrence) Chesnut of Fairfield Township, and Angie (Larry) Hibbard of Hamilton; two brothers, Edward Wallace of Franklin, and Richard Wallace of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a sister, Sona (Howard Scott) Lewis of Cincinnati; thirty-nine grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Diane Wallace and Doris Jean Stephens; a brother, George Wallace; and two sisters, Ernestine Johnson and Wanda Spurlock.

Funeral Service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Darrell Preston of Paducah Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Huntington Court and to Destiny Hospice for their loving care and support.
