Alvin "Al" J. Fryer, age 83 of Hamilton, passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. Al was born in Dover, Indiana on March 23, 1934 to Robert and Josephine (Knuf) Fryer. Al was in the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. He retired from Kroger after 35 years. He enjoyed woodworking, coin collecting, and spending time with his family. On April 12, 1958 he married Elaine Walter in Harrison, OH, and together they had seven children.
Al is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elaine Fryer; his children, John Fryer, Charles (Kristin) Fryer, David (fiancée Donna) Fryer, Mark (Elizabeth) Fryer, Steven (Alyson) Fryer, Laura Fryer, and Beth Fryer; 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 2550 Millville Ave., Hamilton, Ohio, on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 10:00 AM with Fr. James Wedig officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 7:45 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home 1350 Millville Ave. Hamilton, 45013 with Army Honors beginning at 7:45 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
