Amon H. Sweet

May 17, 1931 — March 12, 2011

Amon H. Sweet, age 79, of Hamilton, stepped peacefully into the presence of the King Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Butler Co Care Facility. He was born in Blackstar, Kentucky on May 17, 1931 the son of Ben Sr. and Mary D. (Adams) Sweet. He graduated from Benham High School in 1950. Amon served in the U S Army from 1949 to 1953, returning to Benham, Ky. to work for International Harvester. In about 1957 he moved to Detroit to work for Cadillac and General Motors. In 1962 he and his youngest brother Joe moved to Los Angeles, California to work at General Motors.

He is survived by a son, Rodney (Donna) Sweet of Arizona; a daughter, Carla Brewer of Arizona; two grandchildren, Joe and Jessie, and a great-granddaughter Joyla; a brother, Joe (Lenora) Sweet of Hemet, California; a sister, Edna (Boone) Davenport of Hamilton; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mary Sweet Sr.; and a daughter, Sandra Kay Sweet; a sister, Ruby Sweet Halcomb; and two brothers, Ben Sweet Jr. and Otho Lee "Bud" Sweet

Visitation will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave., on Tuesday March 15th from 5 to 7 PM with funeral service to follow at 7 PM with his nephew Rev. Lee Sweet officiating. A graveside service will be held at Swiss Colony Cemetery, Laurel County, Kentucky on Wednesday at 1 PM with Rev. Jeff Lewis officiating.
