Amos Richardson, age 79 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 10:05 PM. He was born in Estill County, Kentucky on March 28, 1932 the son of Melvin and Gracie (Plowman) Richardson. Amos was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1956. He was employed as a captain for the Hamilton Fire Department for 25 years, retiring in 1985. Amos was a member of Morning Star Christian Fellowship. On November 29, 1956 in Hamilton he married Dorothy Bryant.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Richardson of Hamilton; two sons, Steven (Rela) Richardson of Oxford and Greg (Julie) Richardson of Beavercreek, Ohio; a daughter, Sherry Richardson of Oxford; three brothers, Cecil (Phyllis) Richardson of Fairfield, Thomas (Faye) Richardson of Hamilton, and Alfred (Pam) Richardson of New Jersey; two sisters, Katherine (Elmer) Harrison of Hamilton and Geraldine (Jim) McIntosh of Germantown; nine grandchildren, Brandon, Brad, Hilary, Jamos, Ryan, Jake, Whitney, Ashley, and Zachary; and six great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Carson, Tatum, Blake, Brianna, and Grant. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Hargus, Lonzil, Malcolm, and Elmer Richardson; and four sisters, Bessie Messelling, Delora Brinegar, Eva Duncan, and Carrie Bowling.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Morning Star Christian Fellowship, 200 Belle Avenue, on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ron Howard officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one’s favorite charity.
