Andy Smallwood

Andy Smallwood, age 77 of Hamilton, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 7:10 AM. He was born in Manchester, Kentucky on April 10, 1939 the son of Alex and Cleoria (Smith) Smallwood. Andy was employed as a meat cutter at A&P, Meijer, Couch’s Supermarket, and also owned and operated Andy’s Country Meat Market. Andy enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed bowling, playing softball and basketball, and coaching girls’ softball teams for numerous years. He attended Browns Chapel and Freedom Baptist Church.

Andy is survived by three loving daughters, Cindy Fields (Greg), Cathy Ramsey Waters (Brian), Christy Abrams (Steve), and their mother, Dezzie Smallwood; devoted companion, Esther Bower and son, Kenny McVey; Esther’s daughters, Jessica McVey and Amber Baker (Charlie); five siblings, Sylvia Combs (Gerald), Veeda Thompson (Eugene), Josephine House (George), J.B. Asher (Mossie), and Charles Asher (Ruth); thirteen grandchildren, Valerie, Greg, Corey, Wes, Gracie, Alex, Kelsi, Liam, Brantley, Ella, Michael, Christopher, and Clayton; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tammy Smallwood; two sisters, Clearsie Jackson and Gracie Stewart; and three brothers, Curney Asher, John Asher, and Bobby Smallwood.

Funeral service will be held at the Freedom Baptist Church, 1766 Millville Avenue, on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Kris Theobald officiating. Burial will follow at Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Sunday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
