Antonio Figueroa, age 70 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at 11:43 PM. He was born in New York City on July 27, 1937 the son of Antonio and Luz (Rodrigues) Figueroa. Antonio was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1975. He was employed as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for eleven years, retiring in 1991. Antonio was a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church and VFW #7670. On August 23, 1961 in Ft. Meade, Maryland he married Dorothy Cummins, who preceded him in death in 2003.
He is survived by one son, Michael Figueroa of Hamilton; one daughter, Georgia Breiner of Crittenden, Kentucky; brother, Richard Figueroa of Florida; grandson, Christopher A. Figueroa; special nephew, Robert Bolser of Wilmington, Illinois; very close and special friend, James Lancaster of Hamilton; and devoted family friend, Eric Stroup of Fairbault, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Daniel and Christa Marie Figueroa; granddaughter, Danielle Nicole Figueroa; and uncle and aunt, Clemente and Anna Figueroa.
Memorial Mass will be held at St. Julie Billiart Church, 224 Dayton Street, on Monday, September 24, 2007 at 2:30 PM. Burial of cremains will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial gathering will be held Monday from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the church.
