Arthur Clayton Hale, age 81 of Hamilton passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 7:44 PM. He was born in Hamilton on August 20, 1927 the son of John Harvey and Katherine Louise (Owens) Hale. Arthur was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II form 1945 to 1946. He was a self-employed bricklayer and member of Bricklayers Union Local 18, and operated Larco, Art Hale Masonry, and Wayne Masonry. Arthur was a model train enthusiast whose display included Durango and Silverton, Colorado. He also restored old cars and trucks. Arthur enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and spending time with his family. On May 31, 1947 in Covington, Kentucky he married Mildred I. Scarth.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mildred I. Hale of Hamilton; his children, Julia (Lester) Lunsford of Mt. Morris, Michigan, Peggy (Wayne) Day of Reily, Lois (Paul) Lackey of Liberty, Indiana, Arlene (Brad) Nichol of College Corner, Ohio, Nancy (Merle) Foley of New Mexico, Katherine (Rick) Claxton of Hamilton, and John (Jennifer) Hale of Okeana; 20 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Richard Lunsford; a brother, Charles Hale; and three sisters, Virginia Weaver, Katherine Nantz, and Georgie Hale.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 12:00 noon with Pastor Marvin Sams of Bond Baptist Church, Bond, Kentucky officiating. Burial will follow in Reily Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
