Arthur "Pee-Kaw" Smith Jr.

Arthur "Pee-Kaw" Smith Jr., age 80 of Hamilton entered the gates of Heaven on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 4:53 PM. He went to be with the Lord, whom he served his entire life. Arthur was born in Hamilton on September 27, 1929 the son of Arthur and Iona Lee (Johnson) Smith. He was employed at General Motors of Norwood and of Shreveport, Louisiana from 1964 to 1991. Arthur was a member of the Nazarene Church from childhood until his death. He was an avid softball player, fisherman and hunter. He will be dearly missed. On December 3, 1949 in Hamilton he married Lois Jean Sapp.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Lois Jean Smith of Hamilton; three children, Karen (Tim) Everett of Hamilton, Steve (Heather) Smith of Fairfield, and Greg (Laura) Smith of Coral Springs, Florida; ten grandchildren, Christa (Billy), Angie (Matt), Richie (Shannan), Missy (Jim), Craig (Liz), Candice (Chris), Dustin, Christy, Nate, and Lydia; 14 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Elisabeth, Christapher, Meaghan, Breeana, Haylee, Jenna, Jacob, Karen, Emee, Leila, Kendall, Brooke, and Braydyn; a brother, Eddie (Susan) Smith of Springfield; a sister, Ruth Prather of Trenton; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant child; two brothers, Bob and Joe Smith; and a grandson, Patrick Smith.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Paul Mills of Trenton Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati, PO Box 633597, Cincinnati, OH 45263-3597. The family extends a special thank you to the nurses and aides at Hawthorn Glen and the nurses at Hospice.
