Asuncion (Shiony) Docena

Asuncion (Shiony) Chicano Docena, age 78 of Hamilton, passed away at Mercy Hospital--Fairfield on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. She was born in Taft, Eastern Samar, Philippines on August 15, 1945 to Romarico Adina and Isidra Chicano Docena. Shiony was employed as a Central Services Technician for Mercy Hamilton and Fairfield and later retired as a Sterile Supply Technician from Atrium Medical Center. She was a member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church.

Shiony is survived by seven siblings, Andrea Balein, Oliva (John) Krause, Dr. Samuel (Rose) Docena, Effie (Bill) Bond, Reynaldo (Barbara) Docena, Regina Balein, and Raul Docena; her lifelong best friend, Edita Manaig in the Philippines; numerous nieces and nephews, Eloy Docena, Rowena (Philip) Koshy and their daughter, Ella, Rizza (Chad) Lannes and their children, Jacob, Natalie, and Nathan, Leah and Nonette Balein, Marigold (Tom) Russ, Glenn (Cris) Balein and their daughter, Anika, John Anthony Krause and his daughter, Phoebe, June (Chris) Haynes and their children, Nicholas, Emily, Lily Ann Marie, Trinette (Jim) Flynn and their daughter, Sarah, Dale Francis Ramminger and his son, Bryce, Dave Andrew (Emma) Ramminger and their son, Leo, Dr. Christian (Dr. Janise Cuizon) Docena and their daughter Sophia, Dr. Maricor (Dr. Travis Dugger) Docena and their children, Aubrey and Hailey, Jeffrey Docena, Lianne (James) Speers and their children, Olivia, Alex, and Charlotte Lynn, Abigail Bond, Kenneth, Jesse Edward and Jennifer Docena, Daphne Balein; many friends and family across the United States and the Philippines. She is preceded in death by her parents; two siblings, Lolita Balein and Elaine Chicano Docena; her brother-in-laws, Romeo Balein, Greg Balein and Marcos Balein; and her beloved dog, Bingo.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, 382 Liberty Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio, on Monday, June  3, 2024 at 10:00 AM.  Burial will follow at St. Stephen Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church.
