Barbara E. Burns

Barbara E. Burns, age 73, of Hamilton, passed away at Mercy Hospital Fairfield on Friday, May 22, 2009. She was born in Hamilton on January 8, 1936, the daughter of John Stanifer and Myrtle (Hurt) Stanifer-McGuire. Barbara retired from CHACO Credit Union in 1999. She cherished her family and friends, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Barbara was an avid bingo player at St. Joseph’s and long-time Reds fan. She loved animals, especially her cats Felix, Oscar, and Sasha. On September 30, 1970, in Mt. Healthy, she married Homer Burns who preceded her in death on January 2, 2008.

She is survived by her children, Rick Forsythe and Carolyn Smith, both of Hamilton; grandchildren, Missy, Megan, Brandon, Anna, and Rachel; brothers, Joe (Dode) Stanifer, Bill (Nancy) Stanifer, Howard (Fredetta) Stanifer, Berlyn (Mary Ann) Stanifer, and Paul (Sandra) Stanifer; sisters, Diana (Brad) Phillips, Linda (Frankie) Harrell, Mary Smith-Stevens, Linda (Dan) Carmichael and a sister-in-law, Yolanda Stanifer; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and soul mate Homer Burns; a son, Randall Wayne Forsythe; a brother, Kenneth Stanifer; two nephews, Russell "Rusty" Stanifer and James Stanifer; and a great-nephew, Casey Coleman Mays.

Visitation will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave, on Saturday May 30th from 11:00 A.M. until 12 noon. Funeral services will immediately follow with Howard Stanifer and Brian Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
