Barbara J. Mayer

Barbara J. Mayer, age 74, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, September 16, 2008. She was born in Hamilton on March 4, 1934 the daughter of Harvey C. and Myrtle F. (Harrison) Gehring. She was a retired employee of First Financial Bank. She was a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, Moose Lodges #36, #28, and #183, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary #138, Eagles Auxiliary #407 and #3986, VFW Ladies Auxiliary #1069, Amvets Ladies Auxiliary #1983, Elks #93, Orioles Nest #193, and Hamilton Boat Club Ladies Auxiliary. On June 20, 1963 in Hamilton she married Thomas A. Mayer, who passed away on December 8, 1989.

She is survived by two sons, John Mayer and Kenneth Mayer both of Hamilton; and a granddaughter, Jessie Mayer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Thomas A. Mayer II; a granddaughter Ashtin Mayer, and a sister, Phyllis Gibbons.

A Funeral Blessing will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue on Saturday, Sept, 20th at 10:00 AM with Deacon Tom Strodtbeck officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
