Barbara J. Hendricks

Barbara J. Hendricks, age 79 of Oxford, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. Barbara was born in Oxford, Ohio on December 13, 1942 the daughter of Carl and Anna Belle (Cornelius) Norris. She graduated from Talawanda High School in 1960 (the first class to spend all 4 years at Talawanda.) In 1961, she graduated from Miami Jacobs Business College in Dayton as a stenographer. Barb worked in the Miami University Purchasing Department from 1961-1965.

On May 19, 1962, she married her husband and best friend, Ondus Hendricks. They enjoyed nearly 43 years of marriage before his death in 2005. Barb returned to work at Miami University, King Library in 1979 and retired in 2004. She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Oxford. Her home and family were her life and in retirement it was her pleasure to care for her young grandchildren while their parents worked.

Barb leaves behind her sons, Edward Kaylan (Jenny) Hendricks and Carl Maylan Hendricks; her grandchildren, Britnay (Donnie) Branscum, Cody (Amber) Hendricks, Brooke Hendricks, Brynn Hendricks, Connor Hendricks and Caden Hendricks; her bonus grandchild, Sophie Ruff; her great grandchildren, Oliver Branscum, Evelyn Hendricks and Amelia Hendricks; her sister-in-law, Pam (the late Gerald) Norris; many nieces, nephews and a special cousin, Marshall Finkbine. Barb was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Ondus Hendricks; her parents, Carl and Anna Belle Norris; her in laws, Edward and Fannie Blanche Hendricks; her brother, Gerald Norris; and a special cousin, Robert Finkbine.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave, Hamilton, Ohio, on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 1:00 PM with Minister John Witt officiating.  Burial will follow at Darrtown Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions can be made in Barbara’s name to Oxford Life Squad, 15 South College Ave, Oxford, OH 45056 and First Christian Church, 5877 Todd Rd, Oxford, OH 45056.
