Belva L. Ward

Belva L. Ward, age 74 of Hamilton was brought home by God when He saw that she was tired on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 4:50 PM. She was born in New Castle, Indiana on July 24, 1937 the daughter of Willie and Cartha (Braswell) Smith. Belva was a member of Gordon Avenue Baptist Church. On June 19, 1965 in Spiceland, Indiana she married Charles Ward.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Ward of Hamilton; a son, Willie Ward of Hamilton; two sisters, Bethel Pyrtle and Patricia (Sam) Laurie, both of New Castle, Indiana; three grandchildren, Darcy Ward, Amanda (Stacie) Ward, and William Ward Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Brookelynn, Logan, Gracie, Serena and Alicia; and countless other friends and family who were blessed to know Belva. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Thomas J. and Kenneth Smith; and a sister, Betty Jean Neel.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Neil Gabbard officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Belva’s devoted family will always remember her and will miss her dearly. May her life be remembered by all who had the opportunity to meet her and the memories made with her never forgotten. We know you are watching over us and you are always in our thoughts.
