Benjamin A. Gadd

October 12, 1921 — August 9, 2008

Benjamin A. Gadd, age 86 of Hamilton passed away at Fort Hamilton Hospital on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 1:10 PM. He was born in Hamilton on October 12, 1921 the son of Albert and Martha (Messer) Gadd. Benjamin was a veteran of WW II with the U.S. Army from 1942-1945. He was employed in coating preparation at Champion International for 35 years, retiring in 1986. Benjamin was a member of the Benjamin Franklin Lodge 719 F&AM, VFW 1069, and the Amvets 1983. On December 20, 1941 in Hamilton he married Betty Jane Ogg who preceded him in death in 2000.

He is survived by two children, Karen Sutter and Richard Gadd, both of Hamilton; six brothers, William Gadd of Camden, Joseph Gadd of Independence, Kentucky, Jesse Gadd of Seven Mile, Gary Gadd of Austin, Texas, and Merle and Robert Gadd, both of Hamilton; five grandchildren, John (Jessica), Jeffrey (Becky), Ben, and Jason (Amy) Gadd, and Heidi (David) Bean; five great-grandchildren, Megan, Tiffany, Kimberly, Amanda, and Ty; special friend, Geneva Stitzel; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Shirley Johnson and Wanda Gadd; and three brothers, James, Carl and Hansford Gadd.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 12 noon to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
