Bernell Bishop

Bernell Bishop, age 80 of Camden, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 13, 2025. Bernell was born in Morgan County, Kentucky on February 20, 1944 to the late Gardner and Mary (Carter) Bishop. At a young age, Bernell’s parents moved up North of the river to Butler County. Not long after high school, his sister Carrie introduced him to Barbara Cox and they married not long after. Together they became first generation horse trainers, raised a family of cowboys and cowgirls on their own ranch and started their own American Quarter Horse and Rodeo dynasty. Bernell was an accomplished horse trainer with many national championship titles, including 3-time AQHA World Champion. He also proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 6 years. Bernell will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Barbara Bishop; his children, Tara (Shawn) Minor and Justin Bishop; his grandchildren, Trayli (Matthew) Monroe, Kole Minor, Tate Minor, Tripp Bishop and Zane Bishop; his siblings, Wanda (Alan) Daniel and Andy (Crystal) Bishop; his sister-in-law, Darlene Bishop-Driscoll; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends. Bernell is reunited in Heaven with his parents; his sister, Carrie Nipper and his brother, Lawrence Bishop. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 2:00 PM until the Celebration of Bernell’s Life at 3:00 PM at Solid Rock Church, 903 Union Road, Lebanon, OH 45036 with Pastor Darlene Bishop-Driscoll officiating. Entombment will follow at the Solid Rock Church Mausoleum. Memorial contributions in Bernell’s name may be gifted to Solid Rock Church .
