Bernice L. Garrett

Bernice L. Garrett, age 76 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 12:55 AM. She was born in Perry County, Kentucky on January 30, 1934 the daughter of Ancil and Martha (Gray) Smith. Bernice was a member of Full Gospel Church. On August 26, 1953 in Hazard, Kentucky she married John H. Garrett, and he preceded her in death in 1991.

She is survived by two sons, Michael (Ella) Garrett of Williamsburg, Kentucky and Jimmy Garrett of Hamilton; a daughter, Charlene (Chester) Collins of Hamilton; one brother, Jimmy (Linda) Smith of Trenton; two sisters, Louise Grubbs of Hamilton and Jean Mosley of London, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Jimmy Dean Garrett, Michael Garrett, Shane Montgomery, Shanee Collins, Johnathon Ryan Garrett, Janessa Garrett, and Holly Frost; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kenny Garrett; one brother, Roger Smith; and two sisters, Rosie Lovins and Betty Noble.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Revs. Thurman and Irene McIntosh and Rev. Louise Hyatt-Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
