Bernice Stumph

Bernice Stumph, age 76 of Hamilton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 18, 2011. She was born in Wevaco, West Virginia on September 19, 1934 the daughter of the late Millard and Carrie (Bowman) Burke. On April 10, 1955 in Hamilton, Bernice married Russell Gene Stumph. She was a member of the Hamilton Church of God and previously was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Bernice was a licensed beautician for over 35 years, and spent most of her career at Town and Country Beauty Salon and finally retiring from Heads Up Salon.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gene Stumph; two children, Becky (Mike) Huber and Steve (Deborah) Stumph ; four grandchildren, Rachael, Cody, Dana, and Amber; a sister, Pauline (Bob) Laubenstein; two brothers, Roy (Ceilia) Burke and Richard Burke, all of Hamilton; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Alberta, Faustina, Loretta and Lahoma.

Funeral ceremony will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Orville Roach officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Bernice was blessed to have many friends and she will always be remembered for her caring and compassionate heart, and her willingness to help and serve others.
