Betty F. Banker

Betty F. Banker, age 80, of Springfield, Illinois, died at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Betty was born December 31, 1927, in Hamilton the daughter of Frank E. and Elizabeth Hass Fletcher; they preceded in death. She married George C. Meece on June 4, 1963 in Brookville, IN; he preceded her in death on January 28, 1975. She married Richard B. Banker on December 31, 1978 in Sarasota, FL; he preceded her in death on February 5, 2007. Betty was a graduate of Hamilton High School in Hamilton, OH and in her earlier years was a bank teller in Hamilton. Along with her husband she owned and operated the Butler Dry Cleaners and Camper Triangle Sales, and also owned many commercial and residential properties in Ohio. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Senior Citizen's Bridge Club, First United Methodist Senior Group, Panther Creek Country Club, Old Port Cove Yacht Club of Palm Beach, FL and Beckett Ridge Country Club of Westchester, OH. She enjoyed traveling and playing golf and bridge. She was also preceded in death by a step-daughter: Ginger Murphy; and a step-son: George Meece. She is survived by one daughter: Susan (husband, Leo) Zappa of Springfield; step-son: Vernon "Rusty" (wife, Pam) Meece of Palm Harbor, FL; four grandchildren: Danielle, Marla, Trey and Vinny; numerous step-grandchildren; two sisters: Doris (husband, Dick) Webber and Vi Pater both of Hamilton, OH. The family will receive friends from 4:30 - 6:45 p.m. with funeral ceremonies to be held following visitation at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield with Rev. Vince Rohn officiant. Additional visitation will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., Hamilton, OH with Washington Chapter 195 Order of Eastern Star service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home on Monday, January 21, 2008 with Rev. Roy Wigal officiant. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
