Betty R. Mcswain

Betty R. McSwain, age 86 of Hamilton passed away at Mercy Franciscan at Schroder on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 8:45 PM. She was born in Millville on January 1, 1923 the daughter of Paul and Carrie (Eckstein) VanNess. Betty was employed as a clerk/typist for Ohio Casualty for 19 years, retiring in 1983.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Corliss Dan McSwain of Hamilton; three sons, Ronald (Lola) McSwain of Hamilton, Gary (Cheryl) McSwain of Nashville, Tennessee, and Michael (Susan) McSwain of Hamilton; seven grandchildren, Maribeth (Lance) Pennekamp, William McSwain, Tony Frye, Ryan (Lauren) McSwain, Daniel (Kristin) McSwain, Micah (Junko) McSwain, and Andrew McSwain; eleven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Stanford (Etta Jean) Ferris of Clearwater, Florida. She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Carrie and Wilson Ferris; her father, Paul VanNess; and a brother, Paul Dean VanNess.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Alan Weber officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
