Betty Louise (Leach) Schweizer, age 75, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, December 3, 2007. She was born in Clinton, Illinois on October 22, 1932, to Lee H. and Vera P. (Taylo) Leach, and was a 1950 graduate of Clinton Community High School. She worked in Clinton for several years and taught piano lessons before attending Georgetown (KY) College. It was there that she met her husband, Charles Dale Schweizer, and they were married on August 30, 1959 at the First Baptist Church in Clinton. Betty worked for State Farm Insurance for several years in Bloomington, Illinois and in Lexington, Kentucky before moving to Hamilton in 1960. She then continued to work for State Farm until she began raising her two children. Betty was the church pianist and taught Sunday School at Lindenwald Baptist Church for 25 years as well as being the church secretary for ten years. For the past 19 years, she was "Miss Betty" to the four and five-year-old class at Small World Children’s Center, and she truly loved and appreciated all her co-workers there. Betty also enjoyed lunching and chatting with her friends at Golden Corral during the week. She had a very special church family at Timberhill Baptist Church, where she and Charlie were members for the last seven years. Her gentle voice and bubbly laugh will surely be missed. Betty was truly a walking testimony of faith. She accepted Christ as her Savior as a teenager, and spent her life teaching and witnessing to those around her. The Lord healed Betty of cancer nearly 15 years ago, and He brought her through several other diseases in recent years, before He called her home at last.
She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Charles D. Schweizer of Hamilton; her adoring daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Rene (Todd) Duncan and her pride and joy, her grandson, Austin Dale McKee, all of Seven Mile; her brother, William L. (Nancy) Leach of Pana, Illinois; brother-in-law, Raymond (Patricia) Schweizer of Connersville, Indiana; niece and nephews; and special friends Zelda Patterson and Becky Mayer. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Charles A. and Erma Schweizer; and by her beloved son, Stephen Lee Schweizer in 1984.
