Betty Sue (Johnson) Smith, age 65, of Hamilton, closed her eyes and peacefully went to sleep, and awoke in Heaven on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Jackson Co. Kentucky on December 28, 1942 the daughter of Wade and Elvia (Lakes) Johnson. Betty was a nursing assistant at Logsdon Health Care for 20 years and later worked at Butler County Care Facility till 1986. She was a member of Pentecostal Highway of Holiness and an avid supporter of the Disabled American Veterans. In 1959 she married William E. Smith Sr.
A loving mother, she is survived by a son, William E. Smith Jr. of Hamilton; four daughters, Charlotte Ann (Bill) Vaughn of Hamilton, Cindy Lou Smith of Trenton, Carla Adele (Robert) Shamberger of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Donna Sue (Jerry) Marcum of Hamilton; twelve grandchildren whom she adored; five loving great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph (Phyllis) Johnson of Camden; a sister, Kitty (Doug) Rose of Hamilton; a sister-in-law, Barbara Johnson of Hamilton; lifelong friends Bud Scudder and Billie Turner, both of Hamilton; and her beloved pet, Flossie. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Danny Wayne Smith; two grandsons, Rusty Wayne Smith and Ben Smith; and a brother, Donald Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at Pentecostal Highway of Holiness, 3470 Hamilton-Middletown Road, on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Pascarella, Pastor, and Pastor Eric Brazelton of Miltonville Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday after 5:00 PM.
