Bev Stewart, age 86 of Fairfield passed away at Manchester Memorial Hospital in Manchester, Kentucky on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 6:57 PM. He was born in Clay County, Kentucky on October 19, 1920 the son of Burchell and Sally Ann (Spurlock) Stewart. Bev was a graduate of Oneida Baptist Institute and Union College and taught at Lebanon Correctional Institution. On December 28, 1944 in Newport, Kentucky he married Grace Wilson, and she preceded him in death in 2004.
He is survived by one son, Kenneth C. (Pamela) Stewart of Fairfield; a grandson, Kenneth "Kyle" Stewart of Hamilton; three stepgrandchildren, Robert Lane Couch, Jennifer Strube, and Dion Isgro; four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Zac, Jessica, and Jason; two sisters, Sarah (Richard) Mercer of Hamilton and Dora Davidson of Oneida, Kentucky; a nephew, Douglas McKinney and his children Jared, Kristen, and Stacy; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Geoffery, Preston, and Ben Stewart; and one sister, Maud Black.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Dave Ensor of Rolling Hills Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
