Billie Jean Proffitt, age 65 of Hamilton passed away at her residence on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 11:20 AM. She was born in Barbourville, Kentucky on June 29, 1943 the daughter of William and Myrtle (Hammons) Cobb. Billie Jean was employed as a bus driver for the New Miami School District. On June 24, 1961 in Hamilton, she married Leonard E. Proffitt.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard E. Proffitt of Hamilton; two children, Michael (Frankie) Proffitt of Camden and Amanda Souders of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Courtney Howard, Zachary Proffitt, William "Billy" Proffitt, Samuel Proffitt, and Connor Bowman; a sister, Ida (Frank) Ross of Aurora, Indiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, William "Billy" Proffitt; a brother, Samuel Cobb; and two sisters, Opal Corey and Betty Wood.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Tim Mullins of Greenhills Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
