Bonnie Pooley

July 11, 1948 — December 20, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Bonnie Pooley, who passed away at her home on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Born on July 11, 1948, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Walter and Anne Pooley, Bonnie's journey through life was marked by grace, strength, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved. Raised in Hamilton, Bonnie attended St. Peter in Chains School before graduating from Taft High School. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Ohio University, where she immersed herself in the study of French.

A woman of grace and strength, Bonnie navigated the challenges of being a military family during the Vietnam War with resilience and unwavering support for her husband's service. Bonnie's love for dance led her to participate in the base dance troupe alongside fellow Air Force wives, forming lasting connections during a tumultuous time. When her husband's job later took the family to Miami, she embraced the change, bringing her warmth and adaptability to South Florida.

Her kitchen was a place of love and laughter, where she crafted homemade bread, pizza, chocolate chip cookies, and her famous chocolate malt cake. Sharing these delectable treats with friends and family was a joy that reflected her generous spirit.

Professionally, Bonnie found fulfillment in planning large events for the University of Miami, leaving an indelible mark with her organizational skills and dedication. Yet, her greatest source of pride and joy was found in the role of Grandma. Bonnie dedicated boundless time and love to her six grandchildren, cherishing every moment and celebrating their unique accomplishments.

In addition to her many roles, Bonnie was a talented model and actress. Her charm and grace shone through in commercials, and she graced the screens as an extra in various movies and TV shows. Her creative spirit and passion for the arts added another layer to her vibrant and diverse life.

Central to Bonnie's life was her unwavering faith in God. She lived her life for Him, finding strength and solace in her spirituality. Her faith guided her actions, and she approached life's challenges with the grace and trust that only a deep connection with God can provide.

Bonnie's legacy is one of love, strength, creativity, and a genuine passion for life and faith. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we mourn her passing, let us remember the warmth she brought into our lives, the enduring impact of her kindness, and the inspiration of her steadfast faith.

Bonnie is survived by her daughters, Keri Preter and Ami (Bobby) Hamersley; her grandchildren, Anna, David, Thomas, Brooke, Austin, and Ashley.  Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Anne Pooley; her siblings, Mike and Debbie.
