Brayden Jewell

February 11, 2005 — June 11, 2018

Brayden Lee Jewell, age 13 of Harrison, passed away at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt on Monday, June 11, 2018. Brayden was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on February 11, 2005, to Rebecca Jewell Bell.

Brayden was actively involved at Harrison Junior High School, where he had just completed his seventh grade year. While there, he achieved membership into the National Junior Honor Society. He was a scorekeeper for the Harrison Junior basketball teams, played in the band and jazz band and participated in drama club.

Brayden also battled online, becoming a champion in Fortnite under the gamer name DJPanda123.

Brayden bravely faced his diagnosis of Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy head on, never letting it dampen his sense of humor, his zeal for life or his faith in God. Instead, Brayden actively fundraised for finding a cure, participating in a yearly Muscular Dystrophy Association walk. He was one of the first participants in a drug study at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center to help future children who are diagnosed with Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy. Being able to be a part of the study was very important to Brayden.

Brayden is survived by his mother, Rebecca Jewell Bell; his father, Thomas Bell; two sisters, Madison Bell and Aubrie Bell; one brother, Randall Stanfill; his grandparents, Patrick and Debbie Jewell and Glen and Cathy Smith; his great-grandparents, Betty Lou Taylor and Hubert and Ruth Jewell; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
