Carl D. Chaney

Carl D. Chaney, age 88 of Hamilton, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Carl was born in Mount Vernon, Kentucky on February 23, 1936 to Lewis Chaney and Flonie (Allen) Chaney. Carl married Louise Ramsey on January 12, 1963, and she preceded him in death on November 5th, 2024.

Carl is survived by his son, David (Denise) Chaney; his grandson, Devin (Ashley) Chaney; his great grandson, Samuel Chaney; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Flonie Chaney, his loving wife, Louise Chaney, two infant children, Michael and Carla and his brother Wayne “Pee Wee” Chaney .

Carl loved spending time with his friends at McDonald’s, riding his bicycle all over town during the warm months and sharing the Good News of Christ with anyone who would listen; family members, old friends, even total strangers - although they were not strangers for long, many of them were soon added to his long list of friends.

He coached David’s Saturday afternoon basketball team at Princeton Pike Church of God for several seasons and then he went on to be the director of the league for 25 years.

He adored his grandson Devin and would move heaven and earth to spend time with him. He loved Louise, his wife of 60 years. It was losing her that was more than he could bare.

Carl loved worshipping God with abandon. He was a fixture at several local pentecostal churches. He pastored the Belle Avenue Pentecostal Church for a few years in the 1970’s.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., Hamilton, Ohio, with the funeral service immediately following at 7:00PM with Pastor Alan Weaver officiating.  Burial will be on Friday January 24, 2025 at Rose Hill Burial Park at 11:00AM.
