Carl Hinson

Carl Hinson, age 82, of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Saturday, October 11, 2008 of natural causes. He was born in Candler, NC on August 26, 1926, the son of J. Lloyd and Helen (Israel) Hinson. Educated in Buncombe County, North Carolina, Carl entered the U.S. Navy in 1943. He served in the Pacific during World War II and the Korean War. In 1983, he retired from Canteen Corporation, where he managed food services in the SW Ohio area. He was a member of the Laurel Avenue Church of Christ, Benjamin Franklin Lodge #719, O.E.S. Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, Antioch Temple of Dayton, Desert Holding Club Antique Car Caravan, Hillbilly Club Clan #5, Veterans of Foreign War, and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Carl is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruth Frances Hinson of Hamilton; five sons, Charles (Linda) Hinson of S. Jordan, UT, Sam (Mary Lynette) Moser of Advance, NC, J.D. (Debbie) Hinson of Asheville, NC, Mark Hinson (Tyler Hall) of Las Vegas, NV, and Rob (Kristan) Hinson of Fairfield Twp; nine grandchildren, Tammy Cherington, Dustin Hinson, Eric Moser, Kim Kennedy, Jennifer Wright, Nikki Roland, John Hinson, Cody Hinson, and Tyler Hinson; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances (James) Copeland of Lake Park, GA and Sara Peltier of Candler, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Faye Murray.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8pm. Memorial donations may be made to Georgia Christian School, 4359 Dasher Road, Valdosta, GA 31601.
