Carl Hubbard, age 86 of Hamilton, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026. Carl was born breach in a one room cabin at the head of Mudlick in Manchester, Kentucky on July 6, 1939 to Willis and Nora (nee Smith) Hubbard. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy with the blessing of his father’s signature. On September 6, 1960, he married Diane Gabbard, together they raised their three children. She preceded him in death in 1995. Carl worked in sheet metal fabrication management over the course of his career. In 1996, Carl married Clarissa “Chrissy” Ward. Carl was a proud Kentucky Colonel and very proud of his Navy service. He volunteered in many different community organizations. Carl was well known for his sense of humor, story telling, singing, playing guitar and his accurate accounts of American history. He was dedicated to his Christian heritage and faith. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family and friends which he loved so dear.
Carl is survived by his wife of 30 years, Clarissa “Chrissy” Hubbard. He leaves behind his children, Carl “Tony” Hubbard and Carla (Shannon) Sulfridge; his grandchildren, Joshua, Tristan, Kirstie, Haley, Destiny, Jesse, Jordan, and Talon (Sarah); and his many great-grandchildren, in-laws (out-laws), nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 34 years, Diane Gabbard; his son, LaMonte Hubbard; his grandson, Sgt. Christopher Blake Hubbard; and his siblings, Chelsie, Delbert, Joyce and Esther Sue.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio 45011. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Victor Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Animal Friends Humane Society, www.animalfriendshs.org/donate/ or Hospice of Cincinnati (Hamilton), www.hospiceofcincinnati.org/donate/.
