Carl H. Whisman

Carl H. Whisman, age 79 of Fairfield passed away at Sunrise Assisted Living of Hamilton on Thursday, June 28, 2007. He was born on November 9, 1927 in Harlan County, Kentucky the son of Harvey and Bertha (Blair) Whisman. Carl was employed at Fisher Body for 36 years, retiring in 1987 and later worked for six years at Madison Local School District as a groundskeeper. On November 6, 1948 in Harlan County, Kentucky he married Eulene Bush.

He is survived by his wife, Eulene Whisman of Fairfield; a daughter, Charlene (Arnol) Elam of Fairfield; a granddaughter, Tracie Lynn (Eric) Walsh of Fairfield; a great-grandson, Ryan; a sister, Evelyn (Lowell) Short of Hamilton; a half-sister, Jean Gilbert of Kentucky; two stepbrothers, Tommy (Wanda) Goodin of Corbin, Kentucky and Bud Goodin of Kentucky; three stepsisters in Florida; and a special nephew, Robert (Pat) Goodin of Corbin, Kentucky; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Whisman and Bertha Whisman-Goodin; a sister, Opal Cloud; two brothers, Hobert and A.C. Whisman; a half-brother, Jerry Goodin; and a half-sister, Wanda Polson.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Rob Rosenbalm of Fairfield West Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the care managers of Sunrise Assisted Living, the staff of Vitas Hospice and to Paige.
