Carlus Edward Bowles

Carlus Edward Bowles, age 86 of McKee, Kentucky passed away at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, Ohio on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 5:00 PM. He was born in Jackson County, Kentucky on March 27, 1923 the son of Isaac Shelby and Callie Jane (Lorton) Bowles. Carl was educated in the Jackson County schools and was employed as an electrician at General Motors in Dayton for 21 years, retiring in 1989. On January 10, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan he married Laura Imogene Durham and she preceded him in death on January 27, 1982.

He is survived by a son, Larry (Carlus Bowles) Lee Reynolds of Hamilton; grandchildren Terry Patrick (Shawn) Reynolds, Michelle Renea (Greg) Philpot, and Angela Louise Reynolds; great-grandchildren Terry Joseph, Sara Evelyn, Cody Eugene, and Charles Ian Carlus Reynolds, Dustin Gregory, Aaron Landis, Logan Dayne Philpot, Jennifer Margaret Igoe, and Jacquelinn Michelle Gasdorf; two sisters, Cliffy Strong of Booneville, Kentucky and Lula Ellis of Swayzee, Indiana; special friends Dianne Faye Thomas and Sharon (Reynolds) Puckett; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; 22 brothers and sisters; his first wife, Eula Louise (Childs) Reynolds on November 8, 1961; and a great-grandson, Dakota Joseph Reynolds on March 1, 1996.

Funeral services will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Gary Gabbard officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
