Carol Anne Mushaben, 67 of Hamilton, Ohio passed away at her residence, Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Carol was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 19, 1953, the daughter of the late Robert F. and Rosemary (Weigand) Mushaben.
Carol attended St. Bernard’s grade school in Spring Grove Village, (formally Winton Place), and graduated from Our Lady of the Angels high school in 1972. She supported herself as an administrative assistant before supporting others with her own child care referral business; Sitters for Your Stars in 1983, which she managed for 25 years.
This made her a role model to all the young women in her life as a beautiful, empowered, woman who had her own business, home, and a desire for the finer things of life. Carol was an avid reader and loved to play cards and board games. She loved to travel. Her travels included England, Tenerife, Mexico, and the Caribbean as well various locations across the U.S.
Known affectionally as “Aunt Carol” by fifteen nieces, nephews and their spouses as well as fourteen great nieces and nephews, Carol shared her love for family with all of those around her. As a devoted godmother, she showered her younger relatives with gifts, praise, and encouragement to be themselves—whether it was just to dress up like a princess or follow the latest fashion trend. Her own “children” included her miniature Schnauzers, Gretchen, Sebastian, and Brownie, who received all the love and pampering she could give.
She inspired her nieces to be confident and successful while remaining faithful to God, family, and a love of children. In her earlier years, she sang with her siblings, and joined others in praise at Saint Bernard’s.
Stubborn like her father and discerning like her mother, Carol devoted much of her life to them, their faith, and their love.
Carol is survived by her 5 siblings: Marie (Frank) Salem, Richard J. (Late Minnetta), Jeanne (late Randall) Henry, John C. (MaryAnn), and Robert J.(Diane). Carol is also survived by 15 nieces and nephews whom she cherished as they grew up: Karen Momper, Sherry Angelo, Jeff, Mike, and Joe Salem, Andrew and Daniel Mushaben, Sarah Henry Ramos, Amanda, Scott and Adam Henry, Elizabeth Gordon, Julia Schweri, David Mushaben and Katherine Hyland as well as their families, including 14 great nieces and nephews,
Also living are her Aunt Elaine Mushaben, and several cousins and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her uncle Howard, Aunt Virginia, and Aunt Audrey Mushaben, Aunt Clare (Ted) Thal, Uncle Roger (Ann) Weigand and Aunt Dorothy (Jim) McKee.
Visitation will be held Saturday March 6, 2021, at St. Bernard’s Church, 745 Derby Avenue, Cincinnati Ohio, 45232 at 10 A.M. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. Due to Covid- 19 precautions, masks and social distancing are required. Interment will be immediate family only, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at a later date.
