Carthel William Zimmerman

Carthel William Zimmerman, age 94 of Oxford, passed away at his residence on Sunday, June 18, 2023. Carthel was born in Jabez, Kentucky on May 29, 1929 to Charlie Boston Zimmerman and Mary Ethel (Stevens) Zimmerman.

He was a loving husband and proud father of 5, grandfather of 14, and had 28 great-grandchildren. A respected land subdivider and builder by trade who built over 75 houses. He took great pride in his work and passed on that work ethic to his beloved family.

He was instrumental in several church-building projects and considered it an honor to be of service.

Through the years, he was an avid fisherman, loved boating, and spent time on Lake Okeechobee, Lake Cumberland, and his C-Heart Ranch. He had a zest for life that was evident in all he did.  He will be remembered for the great love, kindness, and encouragement he showed his family and others. His smile and kind heart will never be forgotten.

Carthel is survived by his loving wife, Donna Jean Zimmerman; his children, Beverly (Dale) Walther, Myra Zimmerman-Grubbs, Norvel Zimmerman, and Vance (Tammy) Zimmerman; his grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his siblings, Genebe Turner, Katherine Cummins, and Charlie Zimmerman. Carthel was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Boston Zimmerman and Mary Ethel Zimmerman; his son, Randall Pete Zimmerman; and his siblings, Velma Abbott, Lou Dean, Zona Mae Toller, George, Verdith and Leland Zimmerman and two sisters in infancy.

Funeral service will be held at Princeton Pike Church of God, 6101 Princeton Glendale Road, Hamilton, Ohio, on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 12:00 PM with Rev. Rick Witt of Faith Pentecostal Church officiating. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Princeton Pike Church of God. Memorial contributions can be made to Faith Pentecostal Church.
