Catherine Johanna (Moriarity) Alfers

Catherine Johannah (Moriarity) Alfers, age 83 of Hamilton, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. She was born in Cincinnati on July 8, 1930 to Walter and Hilda (Summe) Moriarity. She attended St. John the Baptist Grade School in Dry Ridge, Ohio and graduated from Mother of Mercy High School in 1948. Catherine married Robert Alfers on July 19, 1952. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Her lifelong passion was singing. She was a vocalist at Queen of Peace Catholic Church and St. Aloysius Catholic Church; and sang with the Kolping Sangor Chor and the Harmonettes Barber Shop Group. She enjoyed life to the fullest with her singing, dancing and card playing and never met a stranger.

She is survived by her children, Steve (Wendy) Alfers, Mark (Nancy) Alfers, Tom Alfers, Jerry Alfers, Ellen (Jeff) Pohlman, Nancy Schwegman, Mary Lou Sauer and Bill (Sharyn) Alfers; grandchildren, Ann(Nick) Musuraca, Lynn (Steve) Williams, Claire (Jeremy) Frazier, Christa Alfers, Mark Alfers, Lori Alfers, James Alfers, Joey Alfers, Ryan (Danielle) Pohlman, Amy Pohlman, David (Katie) Pohlman, Christina Pohlman, Katie Pohlman, Daniel Sauer, Emily Sauer, Matthew Alfers, Michael Alfers and Nicole Alfers; great grandchildren, Davis, Mia, Caleb, Gabe, Eddie, Bobby and Lillian; sisters, Mabel Busam, Lucille Wolterman and Hilda Hessler; special friend, Greg Williams; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Alfers; son, Roger Alfers; granddaughter, Mary Ann Pohlman; siblings, Ruth Kruthaupt and Walter Moriarity; and her parents.

Visitation will be 5-8pm, Friday, May 2, 2014, at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Hamilton. Family and friends are welcome to gather 10am until time of Mass of Christian Burial (11am), Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 2550 Millville Ave, Fr. James Wedig, celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Aloysius Cemetery.
