Catherine "Kay" Dunphy, 85, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2007. She was born on July 23, 1921 in Hamilton, the daughter of Alfred and Rose (Wimmer) Vogel. Kay was united in marriage on March 6, 1942 to John Dunphy. She was employed at Sears Credit department for 21 years in Middletown, where they lived prior to moving to Bradenton for retirement. Kay was a member of the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, an active member of the rosary society, and also an avid golfer for many years.
She is survived by her son, Michael Dunphy and his wife Kathleen of Columbia, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Brian Dunphy and his wife Beth of Clifton, Virginia, Kelly Dunphy of Baltimore, and Kevin Dunphy of Nashville; two great-grandchildren, Collin and Evan Dunphy of Clifton, Virginia; one brother, James Vogel and his wife Irene of Hamilton; and one sister, Patty McCartney of Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one brother, William Vogel of Hamilton.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, 382 Liberty Avenue, on Saturday, May 25, 2007 at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at Woodside Cemetery in Middletown. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
