Catherine E. (McDaniel) Truett, age 89, of Hamilton, passed away at Butler County Care Facility on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at 11:27 PM. She was born in London, Kentucky on July 8, 1918 the daughter of Alex and Maggie (Walden) McDaniel. Catherine was a go-getter who owned and operated several businesses in Hamilton and Middletown, including Truett’s Auction, Katie’s Sugar Bowl, and Truett’s Grocery. She was a member of Pater Ave. Free Pentecostal Church of God.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Truett of Hamilton; three sons, John (Lashawn) Brickner, Robert (Betty) Brickner, and Claude "Champ" (Judy) Halcomb, all of Hamilton; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Alex "Nelson" (Ruth) McDaniel of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Nelson Halcomb, Logan Brickner, and William Brickner; four brothers, Daw, Rance, Lucker, and Lewis McDaniel; and five sisters, Daisy Collins, Edna Reed, Marie Steele, Eva Heckman, and Merle Webb.
Funeral services will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Monday, October 8, 2007 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Irene McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati. Catherine’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staffs of Hospice of Cincinnati and Butler County Care Facility for their care and concern.
