Cecil Junior Lawson

Cecil Junior Lawson, age 87 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 5:55 PM. He was born in London, Kentucky on May 28, 1922 the son of Eligah and Julia (Sweet) Lawson. Junior was employed as an assembler for the Mosler Safe Co. for 44 years, retiring in 1983, and was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. On August 9, 1965 he married Jullie Marie Lawson and she preceded him in death on May 24, 2000.

He is survived by a son, Ronald Neil Lawson of Fairfield; four step children, including his very devoted step daughter, Opal Irene Strong of Hamilton, whom he raised as his own; Janet (Butch) Schlegel of Fairfield Township, Billy (Nancy) Patterson of London, Kentucky, and Bobby (Joy) Patterson of London, Kentucky; four grandchildren; thirteen step grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; twenty-one step great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Darlene Coldiron; seven brothers, Bartley, Lester, Bige, Otis, William, Milton, and Charlie Lawson; two sisters, Betty Johnson and Myrtle Johnson; a step-son, Kenneth Patterson; and two granddaughters, Ruthie Coldiron and Rebecca Schlegel.

Funeral Service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jacob Flannery officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
