Charles Lee "Chuck" Blackburn, age 78 of Hamilton passed away at his residence on Wednesday, September 24, 2008. He was born in New Trenton, Indiana on August 18, 1930 the son of Eugene Albert and Elizabeth Lloyd (Banks) Blackburn. Chuck was a 1949 graduate of Reily High School. He was a retired employee of Butler County Engineer’s Office. Chuck enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and gardening. He was a racing enthusiast and a fan of USAC Sprint Cars and World of Outlaw Sprints, and had attended hundreds of Eldora Speedway races.
He is survived by four children, Gary Blackburn of Tampa, Florida, Schalisa Cole of Hamilton, Theresa (Albert) Harvey of Bath, Indiana, and Kimberly (Richard) Ausel of Akron, Ohio; the mother of his children, Frances Figg of Hamilton; son-in-law, Bobby Cole of Hamilton; eight grandchildren, Kevin, Bethany, Aaron, A.J., Laurel, Leslyann, Kale, and Spencer; nephews Ricci and Lonnie Blackburn of Oxford; his companion of many years, Shirley Ballinger of Hamilton; and his faithful birds, Pumpkin and Little Bird. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Loren and Larry Blackburn.
A great dad, kind and quiet, he will be missed by all. Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow in Springdale Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Drs. Sargero, Lang, and Sternberg and their staffs.
