C. David "Dave" Nelson, age 78 of Liberty Township, Ohio; and previously of Estero, Florida and Indiana, Pennsylvania; passed away at his residence on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Dave was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania on October 17, 1945, to Robert James Nelson Sr. and Phyllis (Hilty) Nelson. Dave graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1969. He worked at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for 30 years while he owned and operated Lawn Wizzard in Indiana, PA for 25 years. Dave had multiple accomplishments in life, including the 1991 Excellence in Vegetation Management from the National Roadside Vegetation Management Association; the Distinguished Service Award from the National Roadside Vegetation Management Association in 1998, and was also published in CenterLine Journal “The Proactive Approach”, Vol 12 (1), 2003. He was also a volunteer for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the American Cancer Society, and the American Heart Association. Dave believed his greatest accomplishment was his loving family. Dave is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Nelson; his children, Deborah Lynn (Philip Stephen) Feairheller, David Lee (Diane) Nelson, and Daryl Lee (Christy) Nelson; his grandchildren, Kayla Feairheller, Kacey (Jacob) Brabec, Kyle Feairheller, Emily Nelson, Leah Nelson, Bria Nelson, Micah Nelson, David Nelson, Jesse Nelson, Jaylynn Nelson, Bella Nelson, Zara Nelson, James Nelson, and Daryl Nelson Jr.; his great-grandson, Asher Brabec; his siblings, Mary (David) Barnhart, Robert (Christina) Nelson Jr., and Richard Nelson. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Phyllis Nelson. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 1:30PM to 2:30PM at Faith Community UMC, 8230 Cox Road, West Chester, OH. Memorial service will follow at 2:30PM with Rev. Bill Bowdle of Bethany Church officiating. Following the service, a celebration of Dave’s life will be held at The Benison Event Center, 100 S. Third St. Hamilton, OH. Private family burial will take place at a later date at Darrtown Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Faith Community UM, c/o the Food Pantry.
