Charles W. Downie

Charles W. Downie, age 82 of Hamilton, passed away at Golden Years Nursing Home on Saturday, November 26, 2016. Charles was born in Hamilton, Ohio on October 11, 1934 to Thomas and Bessie (Noes) Downie. He retired from AK Steel. Charles was a member of the Bibleway Missionary Baptist Church.

Charles is survived by his daughters, Melinda (Michael) Slaton; Karen (Stanley) Reece, and Lisa (Tom) Perkins; grandchildren, Angela Gibson, Stacy Gibson, Samantha Gibson, Amy Nantz, Jennifer Reece, and Jessica (Rick) Kolde; great-grandchildren, Austin, Jordan, Devon, Dillon, Aden, Addy, Jay, Sophie, Olivia, Brandon, and Rosalie; a special sister-in-law, Aileen Huckelby; and a special brother-in-law, Don (Rita) Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Downie; his siblings; and his parents.

Funeral service will be held at Bibleway Missionary Baptist, 1324 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio, on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ron Pittman officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bibleway Missionary Baptist. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Golden Years for their care and compassion.
